Hiroki Yamamura – Evil Disco Boots On Wax

I’ve got some positive reactions to my post about KΣITO – Juke Shit 2 and I decided to post more about Juke – 160 stuff from Japan.

Hiroki Yamamura released his new free EP which actually deserves to introduce on this blog.
He is posted up Hyogo, near Osaka, and has been pushing some enthusiasm by using a bunch of unique samples.

His tune “Juke Shiyouya Feat. TRAXMAN”, literally means “Let’s Juke!” in Japanese, made his name bigger in the Japanese Juke scene too.

You should keep an eye out for this guy.

FRONT! – Cigar & Moon Remixes

Japan’s 3rd biggest city, Nagoya got the new Internet-label called DFLTJP last year, and the label’s boss FRONT! just released the remix album of his debut EP “CIGAR & MOON” a week ago.

The ep includes his own rework of it and two remixes by Japanese future bass music don, Broken Haze and up and coming Techno~ House producer Yudai Goto, who has just released “Never Say Never” on TREKKIE TRAX in this month. You can grab the whole ep as free download.

A female vocalist of Japan’s most up & coming hardcore band Nature Danger Gang, MMEEGG!!! just released her new Demo tune “ily ily” two days ago.

Now Japan has a huge Juke/Footwork scene and it’s influencing many fields not just the club scene. It’s kinda usual phenomenon for the scene that punk rockers and rappers or even Rastafarian devote their selves to be a part of the Juke Footwork movement and hang out together on the same floor. The scene consists of open-minded people who embrace any kinds of good music and in fact that I almost have never heard the story about separating or resisting specific genre.

So, I definitely presume this tune “ily ily” is one of the results of such post Juke-movement in Tokyo or Japan, and as like the way of the scene, her sound contains bunch of different genres with keeping 160 BPM manner.
I’m going to say “This is the most progressive part of the Juke scene in Japan”.

DJ NHK Guy – 【ヨムMIX006】ヨム Collective Mix

Over the last couple years, we have recognized numerous DJs who actually have weird names such as DJ VDIDVS, DJ Yakult Lady and DJ PAYPAL of LuckyMe Records. And this time, DJ NHK Guy is nominated on the list of those world weirdest DJ name competition.

Fukuoka-based music collective “Yesterday Once More” uploaded a 25min 160/Juke/Footwork mix by DJ NHK Guy for their regular mix tape series “ヨムMIX”. In the mix, he started with DJ NHK Guy’s new productions and put some chilling & uplifting new Juke tunes including a few Japanese tunes, Nagasaki-based Juke musician Poivre bootleg remix of Rustie and the tune original tune of 碧 from v.o.c.
